Privacy Policy
Effective 21 September 2026 · Applies to kindered.live and the Kindered mobile app
1. Who we are
Kindered operates the dating service at kindered.live (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Service.
Questions or requests: privacy@kindered.live
2. Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information generated when you use the Service, and limited information from partners that help us run the product.
Account and profile
- Sign-in details: email address and/or username, password (stored hashed), and sign-in method (for example Google, email OTP, or SMS OTP where enabled).
- Profile: display name, date of birth (we show age, not your full birthday), gender, pronouns if you add them, bio, photos, city, country, relationship intent, interests, and discovery preferences (who you want to see, age range, distance, and city browse settings).
- Optional verification outcomes (for example photo or age checks) — we store the result, not copies of government ID, unless a future feature clearly tells you otherwise.
Activity on the Service
- Swipes, likes, matches, blocks, reports, and safety actions you take.
- Messages you send and receive with matches.
- Notifications you receive and, if you opt in, push notification tokens for your device.
- Purchases or subscriptions when payment features are enabled (transaction identifiers and entitlement status — not full card numbers, which are handled by payment providers).
Device, usage, and technical data
- IP address, browser or app type, language, time zone, and general usage logs (pages or screens viewed, actions taken, crashes).
- Cookies and similar technologies on the website (see section 6).
- Advertising identifiers or ad interaction data when ads are shown (see section 6).
Location
We do not need your exact home address to operate Kindered. Where location is used, coordinates are rounded to a coarse area (roughly one kilometre) before storage, and other members see distance in wide bands — not a pin on your street. You choose the city shown on your profile and can filter discovery by city.
3. Sensitive and special-category data
Dating apps necessarily involve information about who you are and who you want to meet. That can include gender, preferences about who you see, and content you write about yourself. In some countries (including parts of Europe) this is treated as sensitive or special-category data. We only process this because you choose to provide it and use the Service — for example when you complete your profile, set “Show me” preferences, or message matches. You can update or remove much of this in your profile settings; deleting your account removes your profile from discovery (see section 9).
Trans status is not shown on your profile unless you explicitly choose to share it, and it is not used to decide who sees you in discovery.
4. How we use information
- Create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- Show you other members’ profiles and show your profile to others according to your preferences and ours (including safety rules).
- Enable matching, messaging, likes, and notifications.
- Keep the community safe: moderate content, investigate reports, enforce our Terms, and comply with law.
- Improve and measure the Service (analytics, debugging, fraud prevention).
- Show advertising to free members where enabled, subject to consent where required.
- Communicate with you about the Service (support, security, legal).
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below:
- Other members: Profile information you choose to display (photos, name, age, bio, city, etc.) and messages you send to matches.
- Service providers: Hosting, database, email and SMS delivery, customer support tools, analytics, moderation, payment processors, and push notification services — only to perform services for us under contract.
- Advertising partners: When ads are enabled (for example InMobi or Google AdSense), partners may receive device and usage data needed to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent where the law requires it.
- Sign-in providers: If you use Google sign-in, Google processes your sign-in according to its own policy; we receive basic account details needed to create your profile.
- Legal and safety: When we believe disclosure is required by law, to protect users, or to respond to valid legal process; including sharing with authorities where necessary (for example reports involving minors or serious harm).
- Business transfers: If Kindered is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer as part of that transaction with notice where required.
6. Cookies and advertising
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember settings. Where we show third-party ads, those partners may use cookies or similar technologies. In the UK, EEA, and other regions that require it, we ask for your consent before loading personalised advertising; you can reject non-essential ads in the banner on first visit.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may limit sign-in or certain features.
7. International transfers
Kindered may store and process information on servers outside your country (for example cloud hosting in the United States or other regions). Where the law requires safeguards for cross-border transfers, we use appropriate measures such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms with our providers.
8. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove your profile from discovery and delete or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for legal, tax, fraud prevention, or safety reasons (for example a log that a report was made, without keeping unnecessary message content longer than needed).
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can update much of your profile in the app under You.
India
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable rules give you rights to access and correction, erasure when no longer needed, and grievance redressal. You may contact us at privacy@kindered.live. We aim to acknowledge grievances promptly and resolve them within the timelines required by applicable law. You may also have rights under the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 where they apply to information you provide through the Service.
Europe, UK, and similar regions
You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our lawful bases include performance of our contract with you, legitimate interests (security, improvement), consent (ads and sensitive profile fields where required), and legal obligation.
To exercise your rights, email privacy@kindered.live from the address linked to your account. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to a dating service — encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and moderation for photos and messages. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and report suspicious activity.
11. Children
Kindered is for adults aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we will delete it and may report to authorities where required.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example in the app or by email) where the law requires it.
